Functions of IC ATM Card:

 

 

Customers can use the ATMs of Bank of Taiwan to deposit, withdraw (NT$, US$, JPY and HK$), transfer account, inquire about balance amount, change password, and update the passbook record.

 

Within the country, customers can use the ATMs with logo logo to do inter-bank withdrawal, account transfer deposits, and balance inquiries.

 

Outside of the country, customers can use the ATMs of local banks with logo logo to withdraw local currencies.

 

Both inside and outside the country, customers can pay by credit cards in the contract stores with logo logo.


Transaction Restrictions:

Machine Restrictions:

  • ATM restriction: can be used on the ATMs of Bank of Taiwan or other banks that offer inter-bank or overseas withdrawal or account transfer services.
  • POS restriction: can be used in the contract stores of Bank of Taiwan or other banks that offer inter-bank or overseas expenditure account transfer services.

Transaction Restrictions

  • Maximum Amount of ATM withdrawal (Note: per day refers to calendar day)
    1. Within the country: maximum amount per day is $100,000.  Maximum amount per transaction is NT$30,000 (for ATMs of the Bank), NT$20,000 for ATMs of other banks.
    2. Overseas: Maximum amount of local currency withdrawal per day is equivalent of NT$100,000, but should also abide by the regulation of local banks.   
    3. Both inside and outside of the country: the total of ATM withdrawals and POS expenses account transfer per day should not exceed NT$100,000 per day.
  • POS expenditure account transfer: (Note: per day refers to the working day of the Bank)
    1. Maximum amount per day is the equivalent of NT$100,000 in local currency.
    2. The total of domestic and overseas POS expenditure account transfer and ATM withdrawals per day should not exceed NT$100,000.
  • ATM account transfer: (Note: per day refers to the working day of the Bank)
    1. Maximum number of designated transfer-outs: 8
    2. Maximum number of designated transfer-ins:
      1. From designated accounts: 8
      2. From non-designated accounts: unlimited (Starting from June 1, 2004, new ATM card holders need to apply to have this function.)
    3. Banks that accept account transfer-ins must be the member banks participated in the financial system inter-bank account transfer operations.
    4. Maximum amount of transfer-out:
      1. For designated accounts:

a. Maximum of NT$2 million per account per transfer.

b. The total amount per day should not exceed NT$2 million.

      1. For non-designated accounts:

a. Maximum of NT$30,000 per account per transfer.

b. The total amount per day should not exceed NT$30,000.

      1. The total amount of designated and non-designated accounts should not exceed NT$2 million per day.

             5. For designated account transfer, please fill in the application form and apply to the

                 deposits bank.

ATM Withdrawal Service Fee

  • Inter-bank withdrawal: NT$6 per withdrawal

Overseas withdrawal: NT$75 per withdrawal + network service fee (1.1% of the withdrawal amount charged by MasterCard.

ATM Transfer Service Fee

  • Inter-bank transfer:
    1. Transfer to accounts of other banks or accounts of other departments of Bank of Taiwan (use ATMs of other banks): NT$17 per transfer.
    2. Transfer to accounts of other banks (use ATMs of Bank of Taiwan): NT$17 per transfer.
    3. Transfer to accounts of the same departments of Bank of Taiwan (use ATMs of other banks): NT$6 per transfer
  • Intra-bank transfer:
    Transfer to accounts of Bank of Taiwan (use ATMs of Bank of Taiwan): exempt

POS Expenditure Account Transfer Service Fee (Maestro transaction)

  • Service fee is waived for shopping in both domestic and overseas contract stores.  But for overseas transaction, the customer needs to pay network service fee (1.1% of the transaction amount charged by MasterCard).
