The Department of Trade of the Bank of Taiwan is the sole state-owned trading agency, carrying out foreign trade business entrusted by government and corporate clients. Its major activities can be classified into two categories: one is ordinary trade, such as exports commissioned by domestic enterprises, purchases of grains, gold trading, and importation of nature products, the other is implementation of specific tasks assigned by the government to achieve designated policy goals, including domestic and foreign aid programs, stabilization of key commodities markets, and improvement of trade relations. |
