A secure, seamless and convenient way to pay with iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro
Bank of Taiwan today brings Apple Pay to its customers in Taiwan. Apple Pay is a safe, secure and easy way to pay in-store, in-app and online.
Mr. Wu Chia-Hsiao, President of Bank of Taiwan, stated: “We have continuously expanded our digital payment services and are thrilled to offer Apple Pay to our customers, providing them with a seamless and secure payment experience. This milestone reflects our commitment to advancing digital payment solutions and aligning with global financial trends, and underscores our dedication to improving the overall user experience.
To pay in-store, customers simply double-click the side button, authenticate and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code. Apple Pay can today be used in establishments that accept contactless payments.
Customers can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or on the web without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in contact information, card details, or shipping and billing information.
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element—an industry-standard, certified chip, designed to store the payment information safely on the device.
Apple Pay is easy to set up. Users can add a Bank of Taiwan card to Apple Pay with just a tap. To do so, they can simply open Apple Wallet and tap the “+” button. From there, they can select “Debit or Credit Card”, hold their iPhone near their physical Bank of Taiwan card that they would like to add and then follow the steps on their screen to finish adding a card.
Users can also open the Wallet app, tap the ‘+’, and select「Bank of Taiwan」under the “From Apps on Your iPhone" section, then follow the steps to add a Bank of Taiwan credit or debit card. Once a customer adds a card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away. Customers will continue to receive all the rewards and benefits offered by Bank of Taiwan cards.
